Abstract
The number of elderly travellers is increasing, as life expectancy without disability and transport facilitation. Ageing itself is not a contraindication to travel, but is associated with higher risk of complications during travel. Diseases most frequently encountered are cardiovascular events, followed by gastrointestinal diseases and respiratory tract infections. Exotic bacterial and parasitic pathologies are rare, but have special presentation in the elderly which should be known.
