Peculiarities of surgical emergencies in the elderly

Résumé

Les situations où une chirurgie en urgence est indiquée chez la personne âgée sont variées et parfois complexes. Il apparaît donc primordial dans ce contexte d’évaluer le mieux possible le risque opératoire et le bénéfice attendu afin de choisir la meilleure alternative thérapeutique possible.

Abstract

The elderly situations, where a surgery in emergency is indicated, are various and sometimes complexes. It appears then to be essential in this context that we estimate as accurately as possible the risks of the surgery and the expected profits to help choose the best therapeutic alternative.
