Parents partenaires de décisions et de soins : quel est l’intérêt des programmes formalisés de soins de développement ?

Parents as partners in decision-making and care: What is the benefit of formalised developmental care programmes?

Résumé

Les soins « centrés sur la famille » en médecine néonatale visent à intégrer les parents dans la prise en charge de leur enfant et à développer un partenariat réel avec l’équipe de soins. Outre le peau à peau et l’allaitement maternel, la prise en charge de la douleur et la visite médicale sont des opportunités de développer ce partenariat. Des programmes plus complexes, de base théorique et de modalités pratiques différentes, ont bénéficié d’une évaluation scientifique, parmi eux, le NIDCAP, le COPE, le Family Integrated Care et le Family Nurture Intervention. Les méta-analyses concluent à un effet bénéfique sur le développement neurocomportemental de l’enfant. Les stratégies d’implantation sont importantes à considérer pour un impact optimal de l’intervention.

Abstract

The goal of a family-centered intervention in neonatal medicine is to develop a partnership between the staff members and the parents. Kangaroo-mother-care and breastfeeding are opportunities to develop this partnership as the pain prevention and treatment and the family-centered medical rounds. More complex programs, based on different theoretical and practical approaches, have been scientifically evaluated: the NIDCAP, the COPE, the Family Integrated Care, and the Family Nurture Intervention. Meta-analysis has shown a positive impact on neurobehavioral outcome for preterm newborns. Implementation strategies are important to consider for an optimal impact.
