Souffrance et société libérale

Résumé

L’intolérance à la souffrance est cosubstantielle aux sociétés libérales modernes. Construites comme projet d’une société de paix, les sociétés libérales ont substitué les médiations symboliques par des processus de régulation et de gestion de la souffrance. Le symbolisme qui l’accompagne pour faire sens a été remplacé par une rationalisation correctrice du désordre que représente la souffrance. Le juridisme, la médicalisation et les autres modalités sociales de compensation tendent individuellement et collectivement à faire de la souffrance une anormalité anthropologique et sociale.

Abstract

The intolerance of suffering is co-substantial in modern liberal society. Constructed as a peaceful project, the liberal societies have substituted the symbolic mediation by the process of regulation and the management of suffering. The symbolism that accompanies, in order to make sense, has been replaced by a corrective rationalisation of the disorder that represents suffering. The legalism, the medicalisation and the other social modality of compensation tend to, individually and collectively, make suffering an anthropologic and social abnormality.
