Abstract
Journal of Optics is a quarterly peer-reviewed, scientific and technological journal published by Springer on behalf of the Optical Society of India. Journal published its first issue in 1972. This bibliometric analysis is the first effort to provide a comprehensive outline of research results published in this journal during 1996 – 2021 using the Scopus database. The analysis examines the journal annual research output, citation pattern, co-authorship, collaboration trends, global distribution of papers, identifying productive institutions and productive authors, and examines their impact in terms of citation per paper (CPP), citation per cited paper and identified the highly cited papers. In addition to these, various bibliometric indicators were used such as collaborative publication trend, co-authorship analysis, countries collaboration, and keyword co-occurrence analysis, and VOSviewer software was used for network visualisation. The results of the study show that the Journal of Optics has regularly published articles on original and applied research papers on optical physics and technology domain. Overall, the results provide important visions to help the journal editorial team and academic community in developing research programs and delivering research strategies that can help them make a meaningful and influential contribution to all branches of optical physics and technology.
