An Integrated Stratigraphic and Paleoenvironmental Studies from Narmada-Tapti Block, South Cambay Basin, Western India

Abstract

An inclusive illustrated report on microfauna and palynoflora from sub-surface Tertiary sediments in Narmada-Tapti block in the south Cambay basin is presented. Facies dependency exhibited by microfauna (foraminifera, ostracoda) necessitated a linking study to utilise potential of palynoflora in the studied well section not favourable for microfauna for paleoenvironmental analysis. The microfaunal distribution has enabled to distinguish a broad chronostratigraphic sub-division that can be tied to seismic and other markers focussed in this part of the basin. A brief account a probable exploration targets in this part of the basin is presented.
