This issue of FAEV, the official journal of the International Society for Food and Environmental Virology (ISFEV), contains selected papers from contributions presented at the 4th Food and Environmental Virology Conference, organized in Corfu on September 2–5, 2014. The Conference topics specifically focused on virus taxonomy, epidemiology, microbial source tracking, quantitative microbial risk assessment, methodology, virus stability, new disinfection technologies and climate change.

The Corfu conference was hosted by the ISFEV that was created in 2012. The ISFEV aims to encourage research and knowledge exchange to improve the understanding of, and prevent diseases associated with, viruses transmitted via the environment and food. The Society links researchers from academia with actors from industry and policy decision makers, to promote research in the field and to cooperatively meet the ongoing challenges of Food and Environmental Virology.
