Het tekort in het AWBZ-fonds (Algemene wet bijzondere ziektekosten) groeit dit jaar met vierenhalf miljard euro. Dat becijfert het ING Economisch Bureau. Daarmee is het cumulatieve tekort in het AWBZ-fonds sinds 2008 opgelopen tot vijftien miljard euro. Volgens het ING Economisch Bureau is de AWBZ inmiddels goed voor een vijfde van het totale financieringstekort van de overheid.
