Verschillen in morbiditeitschattingen tussen Nederlandse huisartsenregistraties

Samenvatting

Er zitten veel voordelen aan de Nederlandse huisartsenzorg als leverancier van informatie voor het schatten van morbiditeitcijfers. Zo speelt de huisarts, als poortwachter naar tweedelijnszorg, een prominente rol in het gezondheidssysteem en is de huisarts vaak het eerste aanspreekpunt in de zorg. Alle inwoners dienen ingeschreven te staan bij één huisarts en zijn verplicht een gezondheidsverzekering af te sluiten, waarbij de huisartsenzorg buiten het eigen risico valt. Hierdoor is de huisartsenzorg vrij toegankelijk voor alle inwoners. Dit zorgt voor een potentieel compleet beeld van de volksgezondheid waarin alle diagnoses (zowel klachten als aandoeningen) en patiëntengroepen vertegenwoordigd zijn.
