Abstract
The results of 4 years ‘Ready for a Baby’: an urban multidisciplinary health programme for obstetric and midwifery care in Rotterdam In response to the high rate of adverse birth outcomes in Rotterdam, the second largest city in the Netherlands, a multi-year public health programme was initiated in which the local public health authorities collaborated with the academic medical center and caregivers throughout the city. The main goal was to reduce the rate of adverse birth outcomes while primarily focusing on risk-appropriate care and coordination of pregnancy-related care. In this article we aim to describe the most important results from the 4-year Rotterdam ‘Ready for a Baby’ progamme which was implemented from 2009 to 2012.
