Een slechtere ervaren gezondheid gaat gepaard met een hogere mate van sociale uitsluiting. Sociale uitsluiting omvat sociale participatie, materiële deprivatie, toegang tot instituties/grondrechten en normatieve integratie. Van de totale Nederlandse bevolking geeft 80% te kennen dat hun gezondheid goed tot zeer goed is. Van de groep die op twee of meer gebieden is uitgesloten ervaart een veel kleiner deel een goede tot zeer goede gezondheid. Van de groep die op alle terreinen is uitgesloten is dat een nog kleiner deel.1,2,3
