Abstract

Deze rubriek biedt de ruimte voor de bespreking van belangrijke ontwikkelingen rondlandelijke en lokale gezondheids- en zorgregistraties, waartoe ook gezondheidsenquêtes en epidemiologische surveys worden gerekend. Voor inlichtingen kunt uterecht bij Margreet Bloemers ( bloemers@zonmw.nl ) die deze rubriek beheert.

Abstract

The nationwide registry of histo- and cytopathology (PALGA): a databank and biobank of great value

The PALGA foundation (‘the nationwide network and registry of histoand cytopathology in the Netherlands’) manages a national database encompassing all pathology excepts in the Netherlands. All pathology laboratories participate in the network and send in their results on a daily basis resulting in an unique source for scientific research and quality of care. Moreover, the PALGA database functions as the entrance to histology-archieves and in this way it is a biobank of great value. This article describes the challenges of our aim to professionalize the availability and accessibility of this biobank of left-over samples of patient care.
