Metaalvrije zuggurtung-osteosynthese voor olecranonfracturen bij de low-demand patiënt

Samenvatting

Bij gedislokeerde olecranonfracturen zijn open repositie en interne fixatie noodzakelijk voor behoud van een functioneel strekapparaat. De gangbare behandeling is een zuggurtung-osteosynthese door middel van kirschner (k)-draden en staaldraadcerclage. Bij de geriatrische patiënt kan zonder metaalimplantaat een zuggurtungosteosynthese van enkel hechtdraden gebruikt worden. Dit reduceert het aantal complicaties en is een betrouwbaar mechanisch alternatief voor de conventionele behandeling met een staaldraadcerclage. De ingreep is patiëntvriendelijk en kosteneffectief.

Abstract

Displaced fractures of the olecranon require ORIF to maintain good function of the extensor apparatus. The recommended treatment of displaced olecranon fractures is fixation using the metal wire tension-band principle. In the elderly patient, this procedure can be performed using solely unabsorbable sutures. This reduces complications and reoperation rate. It can be recommended as a mechanically reliable alternative to conventional treatment in the elderly patient.
