Het plaatsen van een ventiel in de longen kan mensen met ernstig COPD helpen. Deze relatief kleine ingreep heeft gunstige gevolgen voor het welbevinden van de patiënten. Ze voelen zich na het plaatsen van het ventiel minder snel kortademig.
