Wereldwijd hebben meer dan 300 miljoen mensen astma. Ongeveer 10 tot 15% heeft ernstig astma: persisterend astma dat onvoldoende reageert op de beschikbare medicatie. Nieuwe medicatie is nodig om ernstig astma onder controle te krijgen.
