Samenvatting

In de derde herziening van de NHG-Standaard Diabetes mellitus type 2 is bariatrische chirurgie opgenomen als mogelijke behandeling van morbide obesitas. Over bariatrie bij overgewicht heerst onder huisartsen en praktijkondersteuners nog veel onbegrip. Daarom toog TPO naar de Nederlandse Obesitaskliniek (NOK) in Velp en sprak daar met een arts en een patiënt over het hoe, wat en waarom van zo’n ingreep.
