Summary
GHB: highest level of recidivism

Since 2007 there has been a growing demand for treatment for GHB-dependence. The recidive rate in patients with GHB-dependence is high. A statement of Roel Hermanides, director of Novadic- Kentron, was the motive to investigate whether clients with primary problem GHB-do have a higher recidivism rate than clients with another primary problem. Data were generated from the National Alcohol and Drugs Information System (LADIS). Results show that GHB-clients much more often start with a second treatment episode compared with clients with another primary problem. The hazard ratio is almost more than two times as large. It can be concluded that LADIS data support the statement that GHB is more addictive than other substances. Developing a treatment to reduce recidivism amongst GHB-patients is imperative.
