Sietke Postema, werkzaam op de afdeling revalidatiegeneeskunde in het UMCG, promoveerde op het onderwerp Upper Limb Absence: Effects on body functions and structures, musculoskeletal complaints, and functional capacity, waarin werd gekeken naar het effect van het missen van een hand op de overige lichaamsstructuren, de fysieke capaciteit, en werk.
