Van glad via ruw naar hybride

Samenvatting

Toepassing van orale implantaten heeft zich inmiddels ruim bewezen; tegelijk is de prevalentie van peri-implantitis in de afgelopen twintig jaar een toenemende zorg geworden. Het is nog altijd onzeker of de goede langetermijnresultaten die bereikt werden met de gladde implantaten ook gelden voor de ruwe implantaten die we tegenwoordig gebruiken. Daarom is een nieuw type ontwikkeld: implantaten met een ruw oppervlak apicaal voor een groter contact tussen bot en implantaat, en een glad oppervlak coronaal voor een veilige integratie met zachte weefsels: hybride implantaten. Een paradigmaverschuiving waaraan implantoloog Jan Willem Vaartjes heeft meegewerkt en die hij hieronder toelicht.

Jan Willem Vaartjes (ACTA 1998) is tandarts-implantoloog (NVOI erkend) en praktijkhouder in Utrecht. Hij is mede-ontwikkelaar en distributeur van hybride implantaten bij Ires Dental. Daarnaast is hij sinds zeven jaar voorzitter van de Associatie Nederlandse Tandartsen (ANT).
