Parodontale abcessen vréten bot. Om dit proces te stoppen en zelfs te kunnen keren, is abcesbehandeling noodzakelijk. Als de situatie vervolgens systematisch gecontroleerd en subgingivaal gescaled wordt, is herstel van verloren gegaan bot de beloning. Bijgaand de parodontale situatie bij twaalf patiënten bij hun intake en na kortere of langere tijd na de start van de behandeling (afbeeldingen 1-12).
