Samenvatting

Er wordt wel beweerd dat de mens van alle levende wezens de enige is dat kan lachen. De Duitse bioloog Bernhard Grzimek verbaasde zich daarover, want zei hij: ‘Dat is daarom merkwaardig, omdat van alle schepselen de mens de minste reden tot lachen heeft.’ Mensen met chronische pijn hebben zeker weinig reden tot lachen. Onderstaande casus is daarvan wel een schrijnend voorbeeld.
