Wie op verantwoorde wijze een bovenkaakimplantaat wil plaatsen, heeft driedimensionale techniek nodig om tot de juiste positie van het implantaat te kunnen komen. Een boormal produceren met behulp van een 3D-printer ligt logisch in het verlengde hiervan. De ontwikkeling in deze techniek gaat dermate snel, dat een kosteneffectieve praktijktoepassing inmiddels om de hoek ligt.
