• Routine Process Monitoring (RPM) is een methode waarbij met behulp van de Outcome Rating Scale (ORS) en de Session Rating Scale (SRS) systematisch feedback wordt gegeven aan de behandelaar, zowel over de vooruitgang in functioneren van een cliënt als over de door de cliënt ervaren kwaliteit van de behandeling. Via een RCT-studie is bekeken of RPM de effectiviteit van de behandeling kan helpen vergroten. De methode werd in een pilotstudy getoetst bij 22 cliënten die op de wachtlijst stonden voor een psychologische dan wel psychotherapeutische behandeling. Aan de hand van de OQ-45 werd bekeken welk effect dit had op het functioneren van deze cliënten. Met de bevindingen uit dit onderzoek kan de potentieel toegevoegde waarde van RPM niet worden aangetoond. RPM kan enerzijds wellicht gezien worden als een meetinstrument en anderzijds als een therapeutische interventie, afhankelijk van de setting. Daarnaast zijn er sterke aanwijzingen dat het geven van een kortdurende wachtlijstbehandeling leidt tot een klinisch significante verbetering van functioneren bij de betrokken cliënten.
