Samenvatting
In deze studie wordt de relatie tussen persoonlijkheid en de ontwikkeling van seksueel gedrag van adolescenten onderzocht. In totaal vulden 439 adolescenten (gemiddelde leeftijd = 14.46) over een periode van achttien maanden viermaal een vragenlijst in, waarmee persoonlijkheid, seksuele ervaring, casual seksueel gedrag, en seksueel risicogedrag gemeten werden. De resultaten van (logistische) groeimodellen lieten zien dat ondercontrolerende adolescenten bij aanvang van de studie meer seksuele ervaring, casual seksueel gedrag, en seksueel risicogedrag vertoonden dan veerkrachtige en overcontrolerende adolescenten. De ontwikkeling van seksuele ervaring, casual seksueel gedrag, en seksueel risicogedrag werd niet voorspeld door persoonlijkheid. In de midden adolescentie zijn er verschillen in seksueel gedrag tussen overcontrolerende, ondercontrolerende, en veerkrachtige adolescenten te observeren, maar er zijn geen verschillen in ontwikkelingstrends gedurende de 18 maanden dat zij zijn gevolgd. Dit laatste suggereert een relatief normatieve seksuele ontwikkeling van jongeren.
