Wegrakingen na vaccinatie: vasovagale syncope, hypotone-hyporesponsieve episode en breath holding spell

Samenvatting

Lareb is in Nederland het meld- en kenniscentrum voor bijwerkingen van medicijnen en vaccins. Na vaccinatie van een kind wordt ‘wegraking’ geregeld bij Lareb als bijwerking gemeld. Bij een wegraking is er sprake van kortdurend bewustzijnsverlies dat niet is ontstaan door een uitwendige oorzaak, zoals trauma of intoxicatie. Er zijn verschillende typen wegrakingen die kunnen optreden na vaccinatie, zoals vasovagale syncope (‘flauwvallen’), hypotone-hyporesponsieve episode (‘wegraking met bleekheid en slapte’) en breath holding spell (‘wegraking door adem inhouden’). Deze wegrakingen ontstaan doorgaans binnen enkele uren na de vaccinatie en houden seconden tot minuten aan. Vanuit de praktijk van Lareb geven we een overzicht.
