Oorzaken van riskant verkeersgedrag bij adolescenten

Samenvatting

In westerse landen zijn verkeersongevallen een belangrijke doodsoorzaak onder jongeren van 10 tot 24 jaar. Dit artikel geeft een kort overzicht over de achtergronden van deze relatief hoge verkeersmortaliteit, en de relatie met risicogedrag. In de adolescentie neemt dit risicogedrag toe. Dit artikel beschrijft hoe veranderingen in deze periode bijdragen aan de grotere kwetsbaarheid van adolescenten, en wat de implicaties zijn voor preventie.
