Samenvatting

Medicatieovergebruikshoofdpijn (MOH) is een veelvoorkomend probleem waar artsen te weinig alert op zijn. Het beste is abrupt stoppen met de pijnmedicatie, maar voor veel patiënten is dat erg lastig. Ondersteunende medicatie is niet bewezen effectief om een terugval te voorkomen. Wat wel helpt, is vertrouwen, begrip en intensieve begeleiding – zo nodig in een hoofdpijncentrum.
