Fractuurpreventie met denosumab

Samenvatting

De NHG-Standaard Fractuurpreventie adviseert osteoporosemedicatie niet langer dan vijf jaar te gebruiken vanwege de retentie van bisfosfonaten in het skelet. Bij denosumab kan stoppen echter gepaard gaan met een ‘reboundeffect’ waardoor het risico op wervelfracturen het eerste jaar toeneemt. Zowel bij het voorschrijven als bij het staken van denosumab is voorzichtigheid geboden.
