De halonaevus, heilige onder de moedervlekken

Samenvatting

Ongeveer één op de honderd Nederlanders heeft een halonaevus. Deze naevus wordt omgeven door een witte kring van gedepigmenteerde huid, een aanwijzing dat het immuunsysteem de naevus aan het afbreken is. Halonaevi worden vooral bij kinderen en jongvolwassenen aangetroffen, voornamelijk op de rug, en zijn meestal benigne. Afwachtend beleid en bescherming tegen zonlicht volstaan, maar de centrale laesie moet altijd kritisch en systematisch worden beoordeeld om dysplasie of een melanoom uit te sluiten.
