Een tweedehandsautoverkoper zal meer verkopen als hij empatisch is, maar moeten huisartsen ook empathisch zijn? Empathie is veel meer dan alleen communicatie. Binnen de arts-patiëntrelatie is rationeel onderbouwde communicatie met de nodige distantie niet alleen effectiever, maar ook rechtvaardiger. Dat kan op gespannen voet staan met empathie.
