Samenvatting

De gezondheidszorg verstikt in zinloze regels en daar moet geen vergadertijd of onderzoeksgeld in worden gestoken, nee: er moet gehandeld worden want die regels zijn schadelijk voor de zorg. Dat is de boodschap in een opiniestuk van de grand old man op het gebied van de kwaliteit van zorg in de Verenigde Staten, Donald Berwick. In de JAMA publiceert hij zijn visie op regels in de zorg, wat de mogelijke effecten zijn en laat hij zien hoe dit kan worden aangepakt. Bijvoorbeeld door een ‘Minder regels voor betere zorg’-week te organiseren.
