Delier komt frequent voor bij patiënten in de terminale fase, zeker als de stervensfase nadert. Als eenmaal een delier is vastgesteld, bestaat de behandeling uit het wegnemen van mogelijke oorzaken en het doen van medicamenteuze en niet-medicamenteuze interventies.
