Mensen die willen afvallen, krijgen te maken met twee vormen van terreur. Niet alleen moeten ze voortdurend weerstand bieden aan hoogenergetische verleidingen, ze moeten zich bovendien teweerstellen tegen allerlei onzin en kletspraat. Het lijkt wel of de meelevende omgeving denkt de ontbrekende calorieën te moeten vervangen door wat extra flauwekul – meestal verpakt in zinnen die beginnen met: ‘Je moet gewoon...’ en ‘Mijn huisarts zegt...’
