Samenvatting

Te veel COPD-patiënten krijgen nog langdurig langwerkende bètamimetica (LWBM) of inhalatiecorticosteroïden (ICS). De NHG-Standaard COPD adviseert terughoudendheid, want het is nog steeds de vraag of deze middelen wel effectief zijn bij patiënten met stadium GOLD I en II, die het leeuwendeel vormen in de eerste lijn. Kruis et al. laten zien dat de patiënten die wij in de huisartsenpraktijk zien minder ernstige klachten hebben dan de patiëntenpopulatie in de grote trials, waarop de richtlijnen zijn gebaseerd.
