Huisartsenzorg blijft mensenwerk: hoezeer je je als huisarts ook inzet, een behandeling heeft niet altijd het door de patiënt beoogde of verwachte resultaat. Soms leidt dat tot een tuchtklacht. We beschrijven waar u als huisarts in een procedure bij de tuchtrechter mee te maken krijgt en welke maatregelen de tuchtrechter kan opleggen. Hoe kunt u bij een klacht het best handelen? We geven ook tips voor de fase daarvoor: hoe gaat u om met onvrede en incidenten op een manier die klachten zo veel mogelijk helpt voorkomen?

Despite the best intentions and efforts of general practitioners, sometimes treatment does not provide the result that the patient had hoped for or expected. This may lead to an official complaint. This article describes what a GP can expect during a complaints procedure and, if there is a disciplinary investigation, what disciplinary action can be taken against the GP. How should complaints be handled? This article provides tips about an earlier phase – how to deal with dissatisfaction and incidents in such a manner as to prevent complaints being made.
