Het is bekend dat mensen met type 2 diabetes (DM2) een tweemaal verhoogd risico hebben op dementie. Utrechtse onderzoekers konden geen relatie vinden tussen risicofactoren en dementie. Preventie is vooralsnog dus niet mogelijk.
