Zusammenfassung

In Nederland kan de dood worden vastgesteld als óf de circulatie van bloed en de ademhaling definitief en onherstelbaar zijn gestopt óf als bepaalde hersenfuncties onherstelbaar en definitief zijn uitgevallen. Meer dan 95 procent van de mensen zal doodverklaard worden na een circulatie-/ademhalingsstilstand en een klein deel van de mensen zal op een gespecialiseerde ic doodverklaard worden op basis van criteria voor de hersendood.
