Wils(on)bekwaamheid en het KNMG-Stappenplan

Samenvatting

In de gezondheidszorg is het van belang te weten of een patiënt wilsbekwaam of wilsonbekwaam is. Een wilsbekwame patiënt kan zelfstandig beslissen over onderzoek, behandeling en zorg. Iemand is wilsbekwaam, totdat het tegendeel is gebleken. Als een patiënt niet in staat is om zelf te beslissen over zaken aangaande zijn gezondheid, dan moet een huisarts de vertegenwoordiger vragen om te beslissen. De huisarts kan aan de hand van een stappenplan zelf bepalen of een patiënt eventueel wilsonbekwaam is en hoe dan te handelen. Dat stappenplan is hier opgenomen.
