Chronische hepatitis B en C, case-finding onder risicogroepen in de huisartspraktijk

Toegenomen noodzaak door verbeterde behandelingsmogelijkheden

Samenvatting

Een infectie met het hepatitis B- of C-virus verloopt vaak zonder symptomen. Het is daardoor lastig, maar wel van groot belang, om hepatitis B- en C-patiënten op te sporen. De gevolgen op de lange termijn zijn namelijk ernstig (levercirrose, leverkanker). Daarnaast zijn de behandelingsmogelijkheden de afgelopen jaren sterk verbeterd, waardoor 95% van de hepatitis B- en C-patiënten genezen kan worden. Deze bijdrage geeft handvatten voor het opsporen van hepatitis B- en C-patiënten in de huisartspraktijk en de overwegingen die daarbij komen kijken.
