Samenvatting
Psychische problemen komen in het algemeen bij migranten vaker voor dan bij autochtonen, alhoewel er verschillen zijn tussen en binnen herkomstgroepen. De huisarts staat voor de taak psychische problemen te onderkennen, te beoordelen of een verwijzing naar de basis-GGZ of specialistische GGZ geïndiceerd is, en indien dat het geval is, de patiënt te motiveren die stap te zetten. Onvoldoende kennis van de leefwereld van de patiënt, culturele verschillen en communicatieproblemen maken dat zo mogelijk nog complexer in het geval van migranten. Het Cultureel Interview voor Huisartsen (CI-H) is een vragenlijst die de huisarts inzicht kan verschaffen in de culturele factoren die van invloed zijn op diagnostiek en behandeling.
