Zusammenfassung
Am 15. August 2021 marschierten die Taliban in Kabul ein. Mit ihrer Machtübernahme war die von den USA geführte, westliche Intervention am Hindukusch gescheitert. Politische Fehlentscheidungen, die Unterschätzung strategischer Faktoren und verdeckt wirkende Dritte hatten die Interventen auf Irrwege geführt. Der Reputationsverlust der USA und der NATO ist unübersehbar. Die unmittelbaren Folgen des Scheiterns treffen die Europäische Union.
Abstract
On 15 August 2021, the Taliban invaded Kabul. With their coming into power, the US-led Western intervention in the Hindu Kush finally failed. It was led and accompanied on its erroneous paths by wrong political decisions, the underestimation of strategic factors and covertly acting third parties. The loss of the USA’s and NATO’s reputation is obvious. The immediate consequences of the failure affect the European Union.
