Zusammenfassung
Die aktuelle Ukraine-Krise verleiht den Bemühungen der EU um die Diversifizierung ihrer Erdgasimporte neue Aktualität. Über die Pipeline-Trasse des südlichen Gaskorridors, eines der energiepolitischen Schlüsselprojekte der EU, soll ab 2018/19 aserbaidschanisches Erdgas nach Europa geleitet werden. Mittelfristig könnte auf diesem Weg auch Gas aus dem östlichen Mittelmeer, kurdischen Gebieten oder Iran den Weg nach Europa finden. Dennoch wird die EU auf absehbare Zeit von russischen Gaslieferungen abhängig bleiben.
Abstract
The current crisis in Ukraine has shown the need for the EU to strive for the diversification of natural gas import routes. Beginning 2018/19, gas will be delivered from Azerbaijan to Europe through the Southern Gas Corridor, one of the key projects of European energy policy. In the medium term, this pipeline route may also be used for gas imports from the Eastern Mediterranean, Kurdish territories, or Iran. However, for the foreseeable future, the EU will remain dependent on Russian gas deliveries.
