Zusammenfassung

Die SPD setzt sich für eine langfristig angelegte, auf Interessenausgleich und nachhaltige Entwicklung ausgerichtete Außen- und Sicherheitspolitik ein. Dialog und Verständigung stehen im politischen Vordergrund. Angesichts der Globalisierung wird die Einrichtung eines Weltwirtschaftsrates bei den Vereinten Nationen befürwortet. Die SPD lehnt die Einrichtung eines nationalen Sicherheitsrats und Vorratsbeschlüsse für Militäreinsätze ab. Auf europäischer Ebene setzt sich die Partei dafür ein, nationale Verteidigungspolitiken zu überwinden und langfristig eine gemeinsame Europäische Armee zu bilden und nationale Militärkapazitäten zu reduzieren.

Abstract

The SPD advocates a forward-looking foreign and security policy that favors the balancing of competing interests and enhances sustainable development. Politically, the party focuses on dialogue and mutual understandig. To cope with the challenges of globalization the SPD supports the establishment of a World Economic Council at the United Nations. On the other hand, the SPD disapproves of a German National Security Council and of anticipatory Bundestag resolutions authorizing the deployment of the German armed forces abroad. On the European level, the party wants to overcome national defense policies and create a European military so that national military capabilities may be reduced in the long run.
