Der Anteil an Medizinstudentinnen und berufstätigen Ärztinnen ist steigend. Viele von ihnen stellen sich auch 2015 immer noch die Frage: Kind oder Karriere? Dabei geht es nicht nur um Führungspositionen, auch in der Weiterbildungszeit stellt sich das Vereinbarkeitsproblem, da die Rahmenbedingungen in Deutschland schlecht sind. Persönliche Flexibilität ist absolute Voraussetzung, aber nicht allein ausreichend für eine Vereinbarkeit von Familienleben und anspruchsvollem Beruf. Was sind die Gründe hierfür, und wie kann die Situation verbessert werden?

Abstract

More and more women are enrolling to study medicine and choose medicine as their profession. Even in 2015 many of them still ask themselves the question: children or a career in the field of medicine? This problem of compatibility is not only relevant for doctors in leading positions but also for doctors in the training period, because the general framework conditions in Germany are poor. Personal flexibility is required but is not sufficient alone to balance family and career responsibilities. What are the reasons for this and how can this situation be improved?
