Abstract
The plant hormone auxin is distributed in the plant by a sophisticated network of importers and exporters, including members of the ABCB subclass of ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporters. ABCB-mediated auxin transport is controlled by Twisted Dwarf1, a member of the FK506-binding protein (FKBP) family. Here, we summarize current knowledge on ABC transporter regulation by FKBPs, which seems to be conserved over kingdoms and ABC subfamilies arguing for conserved mechanism of plant and mammalian post-translational transporter regulation.
