Malaria ist eine der häufigsten Infektionskrankheiten weltweit; sie wird durch Plasmodien hervorgerufen, die durch Stiche der Anopheles-Mücken auf Menschen übertragen werden. Viele Versuche, die Krankheit zu bekämpfen, hatten bisher nicht die gewünschten Erfolge.
