Abstract

Liquid biopsy offers the potential for non-invasive monitoring and mutation detection in cancer. Detection of mutations with very low allele frequencies using PCR based technologies is a technical challenge. Several quantitative PCR based systems are integrated in routine molecular diagnostics. The detection limit may not always suffice with these qPCR systems, but may be achieved by new digital PCR systems.
