Abstract
Progress of cancer research widely depends on methods modelling in vitro the migration of malignant cells and their invasion into hitherto healthy tissues. For this purpose different cancer cell lines are cultivated currently according to the two-dimensional standard model. But there are weighty arguments to switch into the third dimension, more similar to the situation in vivo — a big step to improve the knowledge about metastasic spread and to facilitate design and control of targeted therapies.
