Zusammenfassung
Der respiratorische Komplex I ist ein sehr großes Membranprotein mit einer Schlüsselstellung im aeroben Energiestoffwechsel. Die kürzlich durch Röntgenkristallografie aufgeklärte Anordnung funktionaler Module hat weitreichende Implikationen für den bisher unbekannten Mechanismus der Redox-gekoppelten Protonentranslokation.
Abstract
Respiratory complex I is a very large membrane protein with a key function in aerobic energy metabolism. The arrangement of functional modules as recently determined by X-ray crystallography provides strong clues on the mechanism of redox-linked proton translocation.
