Abstract
Laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy (LDP) is the recommended procedure for benign and low-grade malignant tumors. Adequate exposure is crucial to perform surgery of the deeply situated pancreas behind the stomach. A variety of gastric retractors have been reported; however, a simple, easy application retractor that provides constant, adequate surgical field is still desired. We have developed a novel trocar-free gastric retractor that facilitates safe dissection in LDP.
